Sigtuna Stadshotell – a living history
Since 1909, Sigtuna Stadshotell has been a place for meetings, conversations and memories on the shores of Lake Mälaren. Over the years, the hotel has been shaped by its owners and each era has left its own feeling in the walls. When Ellen Paalzow took over in 1912, she set the tone for what would long define the hotel: hospitality. With warmth, presence and a feeling for people, she created more than just a hotel, she created a place where you felt seen and welcome.

After her came Nils Nilsson and later Ragnar Lundgren, who stood for stability and structure. During their time, the hotel grew into its role as a natural part of Sigtuna's life, a safe spot where everyday life and celebrations met. When Sigtuna i Gruppen took over, the perspective changed. The business became more organized, more destination-driven. The hotel developed, but also moved a step away from the personal that had once been its core. With Marilyn Bellman came a new ambition, a focus on experience, aesthetics and feeling. The hotel became a place to travel to, to experience, to plan for. Then Mr French Gruppen took over and introduced a more contemporary and polished expression.
Since February 1, 2026, a new chapter has begun, when the hotel was taken over by the Ahlbom family. Together with the hotel's new CEO, Helena Lindquist, they want to bring back what once made Sigtuna Stadshotell unique – the personal encounter, the warmth and the life – with respect for history and a clear vision for the future.
Their ambition is to once again make the hotel Sigtuna's obvious living room. A place where people meet spontaneously, where things can be simple, lively and social.
Where a soft murmur can be heard in the middle of the day and where both guests and locals feel like they belong.
Sigtuna Stadshotell has always changed over time. But the core has remained the same – a beautiful place for people.
